[Tourney Coverage] 27-03-11 Legacy Tourney Coverage

If you're looking for decklists, you can find them at the MtgTrinket Facebook Page.

Now that that's done, let's give some general information about the tourney.

Quite a good turnout with 25 players! And there's a couple of friends from beyond Singapore as well! Thank you for gracing the event! Here's a breakdown of the decks that turned up:

Combo (9)
2 ANT
1 Dredge
1 Belcher
1 Imperial Painter
2 Sneaky Show
1 Hive Mind
1 NO Show

Aggro-control (8)
2 Merfolk
2 Rock
2 Stoneforge control
1 Death & Taxes
1 NO Bant

Aggro (5)
2 Zoo
1 Goblins
1 MUD (the list is perhaps more aggro-control than pure aggro)
1 Affinity

Control (3)
1 Loam-a-tog
1 Lands
1 Counter-top Thopters

(Un)expectedly, combo made a big turnout that day. As previously mentioned, smaller local metas follow trends in larger tourneys (eg SCG). With the advent of Combo in the SCG Legacy Open Series, Singapore followed suit.

In addition, Green Sun's Zenith made a splash in SCG Dallas/Fort Worth. Now if you haven't noticed it yet, humans love new things (just imagine the same poster girl every week). That's why a full 20% of decks (1 Zoo, 2 NO Show, 2 Rock) played the card on Sunday.

Players still tend to stick to the same decks. Rock players like Derek continued playing Black-Green (albeit spiced up with GSZ), Ryan and Raymond continued Showing how they love Telling stories of Emrakuls and Progeniti, and regulars like Keng Yin, Yong Xin, Weili, and Wenhao played their favourite decks again.

And again, we see the same players performing well at the tourney. If you're interested in learning more about the Singaporean Meta, the online spreadsheet here is regularly updated.

With more players showing interest in our local tournament (Hi Rowen and all!), I hope the Singaporean scene will continue to grow and innovate. The next tournament is proposed to occur 17th April 2011. Keep a lookout for updates on the MtgTrinket facebook page!
